Aurora worried the inside of his cheek when he heard the trumpets blared. It was taking longer than he’d hoped for the servants to help him prepare. The prince was unaware that his choice would spotlight him among those of the court, possibly even from his parents. Given that he wished to return to the forest, Aurora thought that the simple clothing would afford him less attention and allow a chance to plan a way back to the forest, if not escape completely from the palace and his…parents.
Once his appearance was set, the two servants who had escorted him from his father herded him out of the room, where guards waited for him. Now flanked by guards along with those two servants, Aurora was guided down to the main entrance. His parents were already there, along with the ‘important’ ministers, and in the midst of greeting Prince Philip and his retinue. Aurora glanced down at the group from above, unsure of which was his supposed fiancé.
The entourage that surrounded Aurora led him to his parents side and didn’t disperse immediately as they often did, instead lingering in the background.
The blond young man stood a little separate from the king and queen, the king’s torture of that poor fae still stuck in his mind. Aurora truly, desperately hoped that Prince Philip was nothing like his parents when it came to the fae. Yet he could only offer the retinue a small smile, unable to muster anything more.
