Ike shrugs, " i've been in creepy places before, good to know about the temperatures." he goes down the steps and into the cellar area, looking around, " cozy. so, care to walk us through the process here?"

Zelda hums softly as she weaves past a few nurses, all of them working hard to make potions, "i am unsure of the entire process but Sophie is the expert."
Zelda gently taps the shoulder of a short girl, that has black hair tied up in a bun, "sophie? Care to give a little potion lesson for our guests?"

Sophie jumps and spins around, "Your Highness!" She quickly bows to zelda before blushing and wiping some weird purple residue off her white coat, the substance only smearing further, "oh no oh no, im so sorry, i wasnt expecting you here and now I'm a mess I'm so sorry!!"

Zelda gives a nervous chuckle and raises her hands slowly,  "sophie, dear, it's alright. The messier you are the more productive you are so i only see it as achievements."

Sophie turns even more red and she nods,  "ri-right your highness uh any uh anyway. You wanted uh a lesson? For the- for the potions?"

Zelda nods, "if you have time,  please. "

Sophie nods and nervously looks up at ike, "well uh..." she begins to give a detailed explanation of the compounds of the herbs and common medicinal items used together to make the potions, her stuttering fading as she begins to get more comfortable with them

Ike smiles to reassure the girl, " if it's not too much trouble a lesson would be wonderful." he watches carefully and listens, mentally taking notes on all the steps and information of the ingredients, " it's quite in depth then, well it's still worth a try to attempt to reproduce it back home. actually we should try and learn how to make it here so we know the process. Soren? you're better with that sort of thing, can i trust you to learn how?"

Soren was already in the middle of writing her instructions down on some paper scrolls he carries around. He glances up at ike and smiles, "no worries ike. You can count on me."

Ike chuckles softly, " good man." he pats the other on the back, walking over and looking closely at one of the potions being made, " so, just to be curious and dumb, what happens if you don;t make them properly? do they just not work, or will it like blow up or what?"

[MissyLooni]

Sophie shakes her head, "they certainly dont blow up. Best case scenario they are not affective as they should be. Maybe heal a small cut or fade some bruising. But nothing close to what it should be when you use them in battle. Worse case scenario you will become highly ill with a bought of intestinal distress."

Another young girl from across the room scoffs and calls out, "You get really bad diarrhea for a few days."

Sophie blushes and rubs the back of her head, "yes... that. But that has only been tested when using the correct ingredients. We have yet to test out what occurs if you use incorrect ingredients since no one is that idiotic."

Soren doesnt look up from his notes, "well if ike wants them made back home then we better start those tests."

Ike scowls at the other, " hey now, the whole idea is to get the correct ingredients back home so we don;t have to test that. besides, i know damn well enough to keep my hands out of the production."

Soren ignores ike's comment as he looks at sophie, "the potions need to be ingested correct? They dont simply heal externally?"

Sophie nods, "either by i.v. drip or ingested or... other methods. As long as it gets in to your body. It does not effectively heal if you just pour it on you."

Soren nods and writes some more down

Ike makes a face, " well, i guess that's good to know in case you don;t have a iv on hand and the person can;t drink it." He leans over to look at one of the plants closely, " so is there a specific part of the plant you use or all of it?"

Sophie nods and walks over to ike, "ah it is dependent on the plant itself. Some have large thick roots which we specifically use. Not that you potentially couldnt use the stems or leaves. It wouldnt necessarily change the potions ability to heal however, we crush the roots in to a fine paste that easily dissolves. Leaves are harder to do this with thus making the potion harder to consume. Too much fiber will treat it more like a ... ah.... mmmm.... it'll  just be too thick. Hard for a severely injured person to chug down something so thick and impossible for a drip."

Ike nods, " so if you're low on the plants, keep the thicker potions for people able to drink them. couldn't you water it down? or would it render it ineffective?"

Sophie's eyes narrow a little and she crosses her arms, "Watering it down would make them just about as useful as urine."

[Namari]

Ike huffs, " i didn't mean water it down excessively, i mean just enough to make the thicker ones easier to consume. the same amount of potion, just more volume. these are logical questions."

[MissyLooni]

Sophie moves her hands on to her hips, her foot tapping against the concrete foundation, "simply watering them down to a drinkable form is barbaric! You have never consumed a potion so you have no idea just how thick they can be!"
Sophie is about to continue her rant but zelda quickly grabs sophie and pulls her away from ike.

Zelda takes sophie's hands and sighs softly, "hey, hey. Enough now. I think one of the other nurses can help fill our guests in on any questions so why dont you take a break okay? Go up to the mess hall and grab something to eat."

Sophie blushes and sighs before nodding. She mutters a soft apology to ike before heading upstairs.

Zelda turns to ike and frowns, "i do apologize for her actions. Making potions is quite.... a personal thing for her. Something she is a little... too passionate about. However, she is correct that any amount of water added would negatively affect the potion and make it essentially worthless."

Ike blinks as the woman goes off on him, watching the situation but not commenting until Zelda explains, " ah, interesting. so do you have to worry about condensation getting into it then? if any amount effects it then even a drop or two would make it worthless. could you restore the functionality by heating it to evaporate the extra water out?" he tilts his head, curious.
