Orion's face turns slightly blue and his ears lower.  Of course they wouldn't hire him. There's not much he can do besides glow and look good.
"It's okay if you want to work here ren,  i can find something else. "

Ren looks at him, " i can get a job here at any time if need be. we will find you a safe job first."

Orion frowns and nods, "alright... if you say so."

[Namari]

Ren nods and grabs his head, heading towards the businesses nearby, hoping perhaps one of the stalls will have need of someone to help watch over the ware. He asks around at several places until finally an elderly woman admits she could use some help and is willing to keep an eye on Orion. Ren smiles, " alright, just pay attention to what she tells you to do. contact me if you need me, i will try and find labor here moving things or such, but i may need to go out onto one of the boats. I will swim back if need be, so do not hesitate to call for me."

Orion nods at ren, "I'll be good. And be careful okay? Swimming could still be dangerous." He turns and looks at the woman, giving a proper bow, "Thank you very much for allowing me to work for you."

The woman nods, " well i expect you to work hard. now, move that box over there and set up the fruit in it on the stand." she starts directing what she wants him to do.

Ren nods, " i will be fine, i will see you later." he jogs off, finding a few jobs but none as high paying as going out on the boats, so he ends up going out on one of the fishing boats. He himself could travel fairly cheaply, but it seemed he'd need a bit more while traveling with Orion.

Orion jumps slightly and nods, "yes ma'am!" Orion starts doing what he's told

The day goes quickly with Ren working hard, diving deep to collect some things from the ocean floor, make sure traps are in the most ideal spots, and retrieving a few old traps that had been lost when their rope broke. he keeps his senses alert, but these waters seemed to lack the large aquatic predators he was used to. the most dangerous thing he saw was only about twice his size and seemed to be filter feeding. This did seem to be fairly shallow water though, so perhaps they had more dangerous creatures in deeper waters. It was hard work, but he was in his element and enjoyed it regardless.

Orion did whatever the old lady told him, moving things when needed, reaching for things she could not and making the fruit look neat and tidy, giving people who stop by a polite smile as he keeps working.
He wasnt used to it but it made him feel useful unlike when his master just wanted him to stand and look good

Once it starts to get dark the ship Ren is on heads for shore, and the basilisk pockets the packet of money he's given. He locates the stall where to old lady is directing Orion in putting things away for the night, nearly finished, " i hope everything went alright?"

She waves dismissively, " he'll suffice. At least until my son in law gets back from his wife having their baby. If you two are sticking around, i wouldn't mind his help again." she pulls out some money, stuffing it into an envelope and handing it to Orion, " here, you earned it. i expect you to work hard again tomorrow." She then walks slowly off, towards a nearby house.

Ren blinks and chuckles, " a frail body does not mean a frail mind or spirit for that one it seems. One of the men from the boat offered to let us stay in their spare room for fairly cheap, so we will have a nice place to stay and a warm meal tonight. How are you doing? did she treat you well?"

Orion finishes putting things away and cleaning up the shop when she hands him the money. He nods, agreeing quickly to another day of hard work before watching her leave.
He turns and smiles at ren, "I worked Ren! I worked! It was great!" He couldnt stop grinning ear to ear, his cheeks a darker blue from the strain of muscles. He had helped with the vents, sure, but this was something different and by himself and he never felt more proud of himself before. He was so happy that his whole body was buzzing with energy and he couldnt help but instinctively place his hands over his chest, where his gem was, hidden underneath his clothes, not wanting to risk glowing through the sweater

Ren chuckles softly, " alright alright. im glad you enjoyed it. clearly she thinks you did a good job. im proud, lets get you to where we're staying and into a room where you can let all that excitement out if you want."

Orion nods, bouncing softly in place, "my stuff! I'll put this envelope in my bag for safety~ My chest has never felt this warm before. It's so nice!"

Ren nods and leads him to the house they'd be staying at, a young rough looking male with rough orange skin opens the door, a female with darker brownish skin bringing food to the table behind him. Ren heads in and nods, excusing them to settle in in the room briefly before eating, handing over some of money he'd earned that day. The guy points to the room they'd have and Ren leads Orion into it, setting their bags down on the bed, " alright, you can glow to your hearts content for a bit here."

Orion hides behind ren nervously until they get to their room. He sits on the bed and smiles happily, his gem glowing bright enough to be somewhat noticeable through the thick shirt, "finally! Oh, thank you thank you! This is a lot more comfortable than the other place."
