Arakan looks back at him, " where the collar doesn't work the way it's supposed to. it's supposed to be obvious when it stops working, but sometimes it doesn't trigger. that's why i encourage everyone to get theirs checked the day before inspection, but if it breaks between that and inspection, and especially if it malfunctions, there's not much anyone can do about that."

Takana shakes his head, "n-no no. I know what malfunctioning means it's just that... they shouldn't be malfunctioning. I know izanagi mentioned something like that before but I thought he just didn't understand how they worked. Are these things... actually just breaking without giving the little beep sounds?"

Arakan nods, " it's not frequent, but it does happen occasionally. we've lost a few this year that way."

Takana looks down, his ears twitching back before sighing, "thats.... not right."

Arakan snorts, " And you think they care if it's right or not? fair is not a factor, it's simply how things are. i should get a few more of these fruits or the other kids will probably have a fit." he grabs several more, " anyway it's not something we can change, so it is what it is."

takana sighs. arakan didnt understand. he didnt see the designs and assembly line for the collars. they werent supposed to fail.

Was the company using cheap materials? Not performing quality checks? He just didnt understand why a multi billion dollar company that his perfectionist of a father commanded was making cheap collars

Arakan looks over the other 'fresh' produce and dismisses it. " hm, perhaps you would like to visit the kids? if you made a lunch for them im certain they would all be excited. they loved the last meal you sent for them."

Takana perks up and looks back at arakan, "they loved it? really?" he cant help but smile excitedly. he always enjoyed it when people liked his cooking, even if it was just kids.

Arakan nods, " they were skeptical at first, as children are, but as soon as they tasted it they were very excited. the younger was very upset that he was unable to eat the whole portion, nearly made himself puke trying."

takana laughs softly and shakes his head, "okay uh. well. i guess i can try to think of something. you wouldnt happen to know what they might like or not, right?"

Arakan grimaces, " uh, not really. i mean i check in on them, but it's not like im there all the time. just make stuff kids normally like? you don't have to, it was just an idea."

takana hums softly, "thats fair. im not normally around kids either. They honestly terrify me a bit so I have always kept my distance.... but I do feel bad for their situation so I want to do something to help."

Arakan nods, " if i remember right kids like things kind of bland. usually when i see the mothers cooking they're making things like macaroni and cheese, or chicken. i'd probably be better at this if i had any siblings."

takana chuckles, "Bland? im sure everything tastes bland considering what you enjoy."

Arakan snorts softly, " well yeah, i just mean in general. i don;t think they like a whole lot of seasoning. but we can go talk to the women first if you want, get a better idea what we're doing. or even ask what the kids want."
