Indigo smiles, " it's worth it to give you something unique. Gems you obviously have in great supply, but this is something only an alicanto can make. And I wasn't willing to wait months for it to fall out naturally. I know it's but a small and worthless gift compared to all you've done and everything you can get for yourself, but I hope it pleases you even just a little."

Isabelle gently wraps the feather before placing it in her bag for safe keeping, "I do like it a lot. I enjoy unique items. I don't care about monetary value of items as nearly as much as I enjoy fun and unique gifts that were given with thought in mind."

Indigo nods, " it makes me very happy to hear that." he hesitates for a moment, debating if he should do more, before deciding that would suffice and more would be too much, sitting down and eating the rest of the clemintine she gave him, savoring each piece.


Arakan watches the exchange, pleased when Indigo doesn't go over the top. He gets up and heads into the kitchen, gently placing a hand on Takana's lower back as he comes up behind him, " need any help?"

Takana gives a slight squeak, being startled by the hand at first. He turns and looks at arakan, smiling, "ah, are you good at cutting thin slices?"

Arakan blinks, " i can;t say i've attempted it, but i can certainly try. im not sure if my fighting skills will translate but it might."

Takana nods, "alright, I'll leave the veggies for you since it's more important for this meat to be super thin. The broth and sauces are ready so as soon as these ingredients get sliced up I can set the table for an amazing hotpot dinner."

Arakan shrugs and grabs a knife, chopping the veggies, "very well."

Takana takes the thick red slab of steak he has and begins to thinly slice it, "the idea of a hot pot is its a big pot of broth and you put the veggies in, and as those cook you'll take your thin pieces of meat, swirl it in the broth long enough to cook, dip it in a sauce of your choosing before eating it. You can also eat the veggies in it as well and its super delicious and a fun way to eat a big meal with your friends. I made a special batch of hot oil for your sauce since I know that's what you'll want."

Arakan blinks and chuckles softly, " i appreciate that. it certainly sounds like an interesting way to eat." he keeps chopping, making his way through the veggies.

Takana nods, "in certain cultures its specifically used as a symbol of a group of people coming together for the new year and new change so I thought it was the perfect meal to have with all of us together."

Arakan hums softly, " interesting. Different groups of demons used to have specific traditions. we've all sort of been mixed together so a lot of them have been lost. the oldest might remember them, but few even attempt it, too many memories. I know my fathers group had traditions involving the volcanic areas they lived in, cooking in the hot springs and gathering the fruit that only thrived in the mouths of active volcanos, the heat was no problem for them. My mothers family wasn't so much about proving yourself by taking on difficult tasks, they're clever and subtle. She's said they usually had festivals that were really ways to show off their skills. sculpting ice into the most beautiful forms, testing each other with subtle trials of wits, it wasn't obvious, but in some ways it was even more brutal than my fathers family. It's easy to know where you stand when it's displayed for all to see in trials of strength and bravery." He gently sets the sliced vegetables aside.

Takana nods, "I see. That's really interesting. It would be fun to see such things happen again..." He finishes cutting the meat incredibly thin.
Different cuts and type of meat sit on different plates so you know if you're eating fatty pig, lean pig, fatty beef, lean beef, and extra fatty beef, "okay, I'll get the pot on the table and then the plates."
He grabs the single burner and sets it on the table and turns it on before setting a large wide pot on top, watching it begin to simmer gently.
He goes back to the kitchen and starts bringing the meat out on the table as well

Arakan sighs, " yeah, I'm not sure it'll happen though. Perhaps we'll eventually get new traditions." He helps bring the plates out.

Izanagi sees food coming and scotches closer, curious at the array.

Indigo sees the food coming out as well, " ah, I should go then. I only wanted to pop in and express my gratitude, not invite myself to a meal." He gets up.

Takana looks at indigo and hums softly, "Isabelle did go a little nuts on the veggies and meat-"

Isabelle raises an eyebrow and smiles, "only because you told me to."

"REGARDLESS. We have plenty if you wanted to join us. We have like, 8 plates of meat alone and a ton of veggies and I have quite a few ramen noodle blocks that you toss in at the end to soak up the broth."

The Alicanto hesitates for a moment, "i'll admit it sounds delicious. are you certain it will not strain your own meals at all?"
