She nods, " it was. they claimed both collars were malfunctioning. her parents had... abilities that the humans didn't like. Funny how when certain demons have such abilities like incubus, they seem to all have misfortune with their collars."

Takana sighs, "i... really do hope things get better for her. For everyone. Even better than what things are now."

[Namari]

" so do i. but at least things are better than they were. but it would be nice to have the next generation not grow up in such fear. imagine if our birthrate actually was higher than our death rates?"

[MissyLooni]

Takana shudders, "just the fact that that's a thing makes me incredibly sad."

[Namari]

She nods, sighing, " our population has been on a slow decline for decades. many demons hesitate to have children, it's more mouths to feed on a tight budget and children often have little self control. and of course the deaths from the inspections and suicide are a factor on the other side. plus housing is a problem, small apartments make up the majority of where e and d rank demons live, which isn't ideal for children. we can;t just make more room or housing. the way things were a few years ago, if our numbers did start growing, im sure there would be some reason to... reduce our numbers to keep them steady so that space wouldn;t be a problem anymore." she shakes her head, " it is what it is though. hopefully things improve. though im not sure what'll happen if things do get more crowded, i doubt they'll want to build another district."

[MissyLooni]

"Hopefully by the time the citizens find comfort in starting a family enough humans could see what's really going on and pressure their government for positive action. I'm not gonna assume it will happen, but I will remain hopeful for the best."

[Namari]

She nods, " hopefully. well, we'll see. i have a feeling if things keep improving there will be a baby boom in about a year. after all, this is the best it's ever been." she pats his shoulder, " anyway, enough of me babbling. i'll open the cafe."

Takana nods and goes back to cooking, letting the other chef handle the curry orders and the ramen they can work on together

the manager opens the cafe and helps get customers seated and taken care of. She also serves out small samples of the new soup, and many orders for it roll in.

Mina, kaeru and the other servers have to rush around when word gets out about a new delicious hot soup

The manager is right in the fray, working just as hard as everyone else. The busy day does make the time go faster, and before they know it it's closing time, and the manager locks the front doors while they get cleaned up. " Good work today everyone."

Mina hums softly, "it hasn't been that busy in a long time."

Hikari grimaces, "ugh. So many people..."

Takana works on getting the kitchen cleaned up again, humming happily

The manager nods, " it's a good thing though, the business is good. And we even had a couple humans today. That's progress. And money coming into the district is important. Let's hope we do as well tomorrow."

Hikari grumbles softly, "having humans come in is a good thing?"

Mina blinks and sighs, "it's not like the humans that came are the ones in charge of the inspections..."

" it is if we want them to see we're not the stupid mindless beasts they think we are my dear. by making us more relatable, they can;t justify our bad conditions as easily." The manager hums softly, no harshness in her voice. She understood Hikari's frustration.
