[Namari]

She follows easily, not exactly subtle. She looks at the sewer hole looks disdainfully before fluttering and jumping in, hovering above anything nasty.

nikiri hops down and closes up the lid before heading through, now walking since running would cause unwanted splashing.

They walk for a while, the gross flooring slowly gets cleaner and cleaner until a few left turns gets you to a giant metal door.

Nikiri pulls out his phone and texts, waiting briefly before a soft male voice comes through the door, "nikiri? did you bring the human?"

"Yeah I did. Takana is here. also um... Arakan's mother is here as well. I hope that is okay. I couldnt exactly tell her no."

there is a long silence before the voice speaks up again, "She.... wont speak of whats going on down here.... right?"

"Well she kept Takana's secret safe so im sure as long as she doesnt see you doing anything harmful she would have zero reason to speak up."

the voice quickly sounds offended, "Ha-harmful?! I would never!" the door opens to show a short, 5' 1", person that looks almost like a kid.

Arakan's mother will know this person to be Helios Avante', the 3rd prince of the 2nd district.

She alights once the floor is clear, shifting back to her normal form with only some burn marks on her neck. " young man, i could not have gotten nearly this far in life if i wasn't able to be discreet if needed. there are things about me my husband is not even aware of."

[MissyLooni]

Helios looks at her and nods, "I understand, thank you for keeping this a secret." He moves so they can go inside the industrial lab. "please come in, it smells much better inside. I have tea and snacks if anyone's still hungry after their walk over."

Nikiri steps inside, "you always have tea and food Helios. when do you not."

Helios stands up straight, "the day i die, how's that for an answer."

takana grumbles, "can i be put down now?"

" i will be alright, thank you." she follows in, carrying herself elegantly despite in essence being in a sewer. " although i do have to admit, i was unaware you were here. that is not an easy feat to manage." she eyes him.

[MissyLooni]

Helios looks at her, "well technically we're not in your district anymore."

Nikiri sets Takana down, "here you are, one human, coming right up."

Helios goes back to his seat amongst several computer screens showing different angles of the sewers. He pushes a few buttons and one of the sewer paths they took closes up with an iron gate, made to look impassable, "To be fair i would have rather met you in better circumstances but my work has never failed me before so i am unsure as to why it would now." once everything seemed clear on the screens he hops off and goes over to Takana, "I'll have to ask you to sit or kneel please."

Takana watches this child walk up to him, his ears moving back, "kid how old are you?"

Helios's expression falls briefly, "The name is Helios and I am 38. I am no kid."

Takana's eyes widen, "What the fuck."

"And no swearing. there is no time or place for such vulgar language." He turns to look at nikiri and arakan's mother, "Please, the both of you, have a seat and relax. This might take a minute."

Nikiri chuckles, "Dont have to tell me twice." he goes over to a fancy looking loveseat and lies down, an equally soft couch next to the loveseat

Arakans mother glances at Helios before she waves a hand at Takana, "I did not say you were in my district. And not all demons age the same my dear. im older than i look as well. Do not judge by human standards." she takes a seat, smoothing her outfit carefully.

[MissyLooni]

Takana sighs and sits down, his ears twitching in annoyance

Helios grabs a needle, "Im going to take two dna samples from you okay? One from your ears so that will hurt for sure and then one from your actual body to compare."

Takana grumbles softly as he lets helios work on him, wincing and yelping with certain dna samples being taken

Nikiri stretches and yawns, "So mister prince, whats new up top?"

Helios keeps working, "well nothing too serious. we recently had our inspection and all went well, thankfully."

[Namari]

She hums softly, " well thankfully nobody died at least at ours, though i can't say it went smoothly. That surprise inspection would have been brutality had we not gotten a tip on it."

[MissyLooni]

Helios sighs, "I am sorry to hear your district is still having issues with such things." He puts the samples into his computer and watches the screen closely, "interesting...."

Takana looks over, "I don't like that you said interesting."

Helios looks at takana and frowns,  "its... weird. Your DNA partially matches with the ears which is... odd. For now.... I can try to remove the ears and grab you a different pair. One that, while can do the same thing, shouldn't match up with your DNA at all."

Nikiri hums, "can you get them off? We tried earlier but it didn't go well."

Helios nods, "Yeah I can. Give me a moment." He goes into a different room

" I did say they seemed as if they were more connected to him than before. Now the question is, is it due to that specific pair, or will it happen again?. That would suggest our little human here, is perhaps not entirely human."

[MissyLooni]

Helios looks at arakans mother, "I can't say for sure. It's highly unlikely given his family surename. You think those people would honestly have an interracial kid? Regardless, I have his DNA stored and I'll keep an eye on the other humans with ears and check them out. For now."
The white haired demon grabs a glove and massages takana's scalp.

Takana's eyes widen briefly before his whole body relaxes, a small smile on his face, his ears go limp.

As soon as Takana had fully relaxed Helios' glove glows briefly amd he grabs the headband, ripping it off in one yank.

Takana gives a sudden shriek when the ears are ripped off. He falls onto his back and grabs his head in pain, "fuckfuckfuckfuck!"

Helios puts the now bloody ears away to be looked over, "language please. You'll stop bleeding soon."

[Namari]

She shakes her head, " no, not likely. But it's not impossible. Look at his hair after all. How many humans do you see with naturally pink hair? Red, blonde, black, brown, and some in between. But pink? Regardless we'll see I suppose."

[MissyLooni]

Takana blushes and looks down at the mention of his pink hair again, "I get it from my mom and she's been gone for years. She got sick and died."

Helios looks at Takana, his expression softens, "I can see a great deal of pain that you are still coming to terms with. I'm sorry, your mother must of meant everything to you."

Takana sighs softly, "it's fine. I just wish pink wasn't so abnormal that it kept getting commented on."

Helios hums, "you could always dye your hair I suppose." He grabs a new set of ears and a replacement ring.

Takana huffs softly, "no way. That's too much effort and it's not like I hate the way I look. Like I said it comes from my mom and it helps me still remember her."

Helios goes back over to Takana, "you have a very kind heart. A little spicy, but I can see you have a strong need to help those around you."

Takana blinks, "what are you, a therapist?"

Helios shakes his head, "no, now hold still."
He shoves the ears back on Takana and the ears quickly go from white to pink, matching his hair, "there we are. Here is your new ring for this. I am going to have to insist that you take your ears off for a few hours everyday until we can truly figure out what is happening."

Takana takes the ring and in seconds he already has full control of the ears, "somehow having these on feels so much better than not having a pair on. Also how do you expect me to take them off when I have round the clock body guards?"

Nikiri hums, "it certainly was easier when I was watching you but as long as arakan thinks there is a danger in his district he'll have you watched by anyone that's better than me."

She looks at Nikiri, " now now, don't be so harsh on him. He'd never admit it, but he felt as if he was to blame when you nearly got killed. After all, you are very important to this district, and while you have gained a great deal of strength, you lack the raw power and immunities of a standard C rank. He is not trying to slight you by removing the duty of guarding Takanas, but instead trying to protect you as well. He has to consider a great deal here, and you are one of his best advisors, being near his age and not watching him every moment for a sign of weakness. He values you too much to put you in the position where you need to risk you life to protect your charge."
