takana snorts softly and starts heading home, "or, how about you say, 'thats unfortunate. im sorry to hear about it but if you can think of anyway i can help you then let me know.'  that way you are still sympathizing and showing concern AND you are also letting her take charge over whether or not she even wants help. After all, you dont know if your solutions will even work for her given the fact that she has to tread carefully regardless of what side of the gate she is on. To be honest i have no idea what she even said to her husband that would make him okay with her spending the night here but if word got out that she was spending nights in the demon district that werent all the same location it would probably raise even more red flags. Also, i know its like a thing for you to consider her an honored guest, and while arakan may consider her to be one as well, he doesnt bow to her or any of that stuff. And im not saying she didnt appreciate your offer, im sure she did, but you gotta understand that she is still pretty new to the district and she knows she is well known and hated by most so while she is here she will feel the most safe with arakan since he's a VERY capable and strong man and also me. cuz i am family. she doesnt know you that well and she doesnt know your family at all so its something that could be intimidating for her."
he hums softly, "At least you're doing better than the first time."

Indigo sighs again, " valid points. very well, the cot will be the best option then. And Arakan does not bow because he does not bow to anyone, not even his parents. He must show that he is ready to take over as leader of the district, so showing deference to anyone is a nono. i will try to keep these things in mind however."

Takana hums, "right him bowing is a nono i know but im just saying the fact that he doesnt do that makes her feel like she's above or below anyone. but regardless it is what it is. you'll figure it out eventually."

Indigo runs a hand through his hair, " she is a complicated woman. not that it is a bad thing, just... difficult." he chuckles a bit, " anyway, im sure you're cold. lets you inside." He picks up the pace and opens the door to usher Takana in.

Arakan sits down at a long table, next to his father. a good amount of distance separates them from the humans, to give the humans a sense of security. not that this paltry distance would do anything if they wanted to hurt the humans there, but it seemed to put them at ease anyway.

Takana nods and heads inside. He looks at izanagi and smiles, "Isabelle is sweet isn't she? She's like the nicest person I know."

Nikiri sits at a perfect distance between both the demon side and the human side as is the standard for every meeting.

Ryokan studies the humans carefully, " so, as we have discussed, we are here to discuss the signing of a new contract which will allow humans to enter the demon district more easily. i was told you would have a preliminary document for us to look over before signing?"

The main bastard old guy gives a soft diabetic huff before opening his briefcase and pulling out the thick documents, "yes. Normally we'd never waste paper on such things but ever since it was discovered that you things weren't illiterate we figured it would be a kind gesture on our part to hand you something to look over first."
He sets the documents on the table, pushing them to nikiri who, in turn, pushes them over Ryokan, helping translate anything on the document if needed

" Considering we've kept our own reports on many happenings, i would think it would have been obvious. but i suppose not everyone is as quick on the uptake as others..." Ryokan takes the papers and starts reading over it, pointing out things once in awhile to get Nikiri's aid clarifying what exactly it means. He picks over everything carefully to ensure there was nothing that would harm their district by agreeing to it.

Surprisingly, the documents don't contain anything too horrific.
Although the wording sounds like it's heavily assuming that the demons are responsible for the safety of any and all humans that cross into the demon district but all things considered its a decent enough proposal.
Key highlights are the fact that any human that crosses over is not allowed to bring a weapon even if they have a permit to carry, there is a curfew for the humans to come back, humans will be treated in a positive manner, and, because humans can't bring any weapons, guards and guard posts will have to be built in possible high human trafficking areas so that the guards may ensure the humans safety.

Nikiri hums softly, pondering why the humans drafted a sensible proposal. Silly, but at the very least there are dots that one can connect with such demands. He was surprised there was no cruel mentions of the demons being forced to wear the microchips or what have you.
He does quietly mention to ryokan that they should ask about being able to choose the guards that end up inside the district.
It would be foolish to have some trigger happy demon slayer inside the walls.

Ryokan sets the papers aside, " surprisingly reasonable. however i insist we be allowed to select, and be able to change that selection at MY discretion, which human guards are selected for inside the district. i need to be sure that they work well with the demons i will be selecting as guards. Am i understood?"

The main guys tsks softly and starts talking to the other 3 men by him in a different language, purposefully trying to keep their conversation to themselves.

Nikiri doesn't comment, doesn't respond, acting normal and calm however anyone who knows nikiri will clearly be able to tell that he has already tapped into his abilities.
If it's anything alarming then he would of course inform ryokan however at the moment he doesn't appear too concerned with the humans conversations.

Eventually the men turn back to the demons, the main guy clearing his throat, "very well. It will take a while for the guards posts to be constructed do in that time you have the opportunity to pick your guards."

Ryokan nods, " good. Because if the humans can't work well with my men, then we can hardly expect to protect the humans in the district. If that's all, then let it be so." He takes the papers, signing.

Soon the meeting is over with and the humans take their copy of the documents before leaving.

Nikiri sighs wants the humans are gone, frowning, "what a day."

Ryokan gets up, " I hope all this trouble is worth it." He looks over at Arakan, " you have had more dealings with the humans lately, I'm putting you in charge of picking out the ones that will man the guard posts." He leaves without waiting for an answer.

Arakan nods, watching his father go before sighing, " guess I should go talk to Curtis. Can't say I've had much interaction with the guards otherwise."

Nikiri looks at arakan, "well maybe Curtis can pick out the guards since he knows them better than us. "
