Ren nods, " that's good." he finishes off his meal and sighs contentedly, " one thing i can say for this space travel stuff is regular meals is very nice."

orion looks at ren, "is that not a norm for you?"

Ren shrugs, " some seasons are leaner than others. it also depends on the day. if i don;t catch anything to eat, i don;t eat."

orion nods, "That'd be scary for me. i dont like to have any of my meals skipped."

Ren chuckles, " hunger is a good teacher. When you are hungry, you are more careful to not miss your prey least you miss another meal."

Orion shrugs, "I guess for you. I didnt have to learn such things. I was either good or bad that day."

Ren looks away, trying to still his tail that wants to lash in rage at that answer.

orion is quiet for a minute before frowning, "I dont think.... colligans punishments were necessary anymore...."

Ren snorts, " that's an understatement."

hearing such a comment from ren causes orion to curl up a little and he hugs his knees, "....hadnt realized it was so obvious for everyone else."

Ren sighs and looks down, " ...you lived that way for a long time. such a thing, it messes with your head. we adapt to whatever living conditions we are in to survive."

Orion pushes his half eaten tray away from himself before getting up, "I think im done eating now. Thank you..."

Ren frowns and quickly reaches over to gently touch Orions hand, " please sit and finish? i did not mean to upset you."

Orion blushes slightly when ren touches his hand and he sighs,  "i... know you didnt mean to... it just... still makes me feel like such an idiot...."

Ren snorts, " as i said, we adapt to what we know, to survive. you saw what you had as normal, because that was all you knew, and that was how you survived the day to day. not just physically, but mentally. it was easier to accept than to fight against it."
