Link flinches before looking at ike and huffs, he takes a heavy sigh and hesitantly opens his mouth, "Let me do this."

Ike blinks, " hold on, i thought you didn't talk?" he lowers his hands, letting the other mess with his bandages unmolested.

[MissyLooni]

Link sighs as he goes back to fixing up the injury, "i... normally dont. Dont get used to it... and don't tell anyone either. "

[Namari]

Ike chuckles, " well, consider me honored then. i won;t say anything, your secret is safe with me. why though?"

Link blinks before applying fresh bandages, "thats a pretty vague why. You will have to be more specific."

[Namari]

Ike rubs the back of his neck, " um, why not talk? why talk to me? it just doesn;t seem to make much sense. why don;t you want anyone to know you can talk? or is it just that you don;t want them to know you talked to me in specific?"

"When you're a child, and you're told of the stories of the legendary hero the first pattern you notice is that the hero never talks. Its in almost every tale. Its never explained why in the books but when asked the adults will tell you that the goddess Hylia removed the hero's ability to talk to make sure he would never say no to someone in need." Link finishes up and scoots away from ike.
"Not sure if thats true or not but quite personally... when people find out you're the legendary hero there's suddenly so much pressure to do everything right. Constantly being asked to do something for someone and everyone truly believes that you wont fail that i just.... i stopped talking. It is so much easier to handle whats going on when i just keep my mouth shut and do what I'm told."
Link looks at ike and smiles, "but you dont see me as the legendary hero and its just the two of us so its a little easier than drawing on your hand."

Ike blinks as the other spews out a long winded explanation, " wow... uh...that sucks, not gonna lie. what the hell is wrong with this place?" he rubs the back of his neck, " i mean, i understand people having expectations of you, i was pretty much born on the battlefield, groomed to take over the band of mercenaries my father started, but having like legends of yourself? creepy." he shakes his head, " well regardless, i will agree talking is much easier than you drawing on my hand."

Link smiles apologetically, "Sorry for that tedious explanation. I figured you would maybe understand better if you knew a little bit of hyrule's history." Link places his hands in his lap and looks out at the sky, the sun beginning to set.

Ike nods, " yeah I understand. Don't worry about it. " He looks out at the sunset, " well at least there's one thing the same, sunsets here look just like they do at home."

Link nods, humming softly, his eyes flutter as he tries to keep them open. He rubs his face before yawning.

Ike notices this and mentally grins, faking a yawn, " well, it's getting pretty late and im still healing, so i should get my rest. Mind coming back to the infirmary with me to make sure i don't hurt myself again on the way?" He stands with a grunt, hand over his side.

Link jumps to his feet, ready to assist ike, "ye-yes of course!" He goes over to the wooden door and opens it, making sure it stays open.  He stares at the ladder briefly before looking at ike, "hey um..." link rubs his arm nervously, "Thank you. For following me up here... and talking to me. I... really appreciate it. More than i thought i would. "

Ike gets up and heads through the door, glancing at the other when he starts talking, " yeah, no problem. even if you are some grand hero, you're human too. or whatever they call you. fuck, well you get the idea." he chuckles, " pretty sure if it weren't for Soren and Sothe keeping me grounded and being there for me i'd have lost my mind years ago." he heads down the ladder, moving carefully.

"Um... i never did get your name.  I'm sure you know im Link." Link carefully follows ike
