Ik grunts as he leans backwards and barely dodges the strike, bringing his free hand up to rub his chin, " whooo damn, i think you gave me a shave on that one." he laughs and takes a few steps back.

Link chuckles, "well good. I dont like facial hair."

Ike snorts, " you can always ask me to remove the stubble instead of trying to take it off yourself." he darts in and swings low.

Link blocks ike's swing with his sword, grunting softly at the impact, "Sorry, but you should know by now that communication isnt really my strong suit."

Ike steps back and holds his blade in front of himself before he starts slashing in a figure 8 pattern, keeping it close to his body and rotating the hilt in his hand, " gotta work on that in a relationship."

Link snorts and takes a few steps back, keeping an eye on how ike is swinging his sword, "Well you of all people should know I HAVE been getting better."

Ike snorts, " right, after i had to get soren to help me get the truth out of you." he twists the pattern as he lunges and tries to strike on an upswing.

Link hesitates, looking at ike with an sort of offended look. He only snaps out of it just in time to have the front of his tunic to catch ike's sword, obtaining a decent sized slice, "I- I wasnt talking about being honest. that's a whole other issue that you two tricked me into. I was speaking about the fact that I was essentially mute until you came along."

Ike blinks, stepping back, " ah, yes, that you definitely got a ton better with. good thing, because while i was trying to learn to sign i was really bad at it." he chuckles and waits for Link to get his head back into the fight.

link sighs softly, "and the whole being honest with myself thing is a lot harder than you make it sound. It's a complicated and deep rooted issue. But i- regardless" link shakes his head, "i- sorry...I guess i am still a little upset over being tricked to be truthful. I get why it was necessary but it's still in my brain that you both managed to trick me."

Ike sighs, " if it makes any difference to you, if i could have thought of any other way to get the truth out so we could move forward, i would have taken that route. I don't think waiting would have improved the situation any or changed it. As much as i disliked the thought of doing this, sometimes the best way to heal is to hurt first. it's not as applicable here, but back home if say a bone set wrong and healed, it would never heal right. the only way to get out of pain and truly heal would be to first break it again, that way it can be set properly and actually heal. In order to heal a deep infection, the infection must first be removed. lancing the wound hurts, but once the toxins are drained then the wound can actually heal from there. is it ideal? of course not. but with the barrier to healing removed, things can improve."

link gives a little bit of a pout, although it's clear that Link isnt too upset after ike's explanation, "Yeah but if I had to re break your leg in order to set it right I would still apologize for hurting you."

Ike grins a little, " i think the apologies i've given in my room should be plenty~"

link's eyes widen, not expecting that kind of answer and his face turns a bright shade a red, "....well i certainly know you arent a liar. however I would apologize to you everyday!"

Ike grin vanishes and he studies Link for a moment, letting out a long slow breath, " im sorry. I don't want to spend my life looking back and regretting things anymore though, i spent many, many years already living for the past and for a certain goal. Looking back and keeping my rage alive to hunt down the man that killed my father. Focusing only on how to find and kill him and get this sword back." he lifts the blade. " i spent so many years, so much happened on the way but it's a fog, because it was only ever a sidenote, a means to the end i wanted, always shadowed by the past. I don't want to live that way anymore, i want to live here and now, in the present. experiencing what's right in front of me, good and bad."
