takana steps out to the street and stands next to izanagi

Izanagi looks at the ground, looking pale.

Arakan stands with his parents, glaring at the inspection crew, " this is going too far and you know it. we've always known about inspections ahead of time. "

[MissyLooni]

The inspector, holding the little radio looking device in his hand, glances up at arakan before shrugging, "I dont make the inspections. I just lead them." He begins his walk down the street.

Curtis gives a tired sigh before doing his job to follow the inspector, his men following behind him.

The inspector keeps walking down the street, raising an eyebrow when he doesnt see any deactivated collars, "a little quiet..." he mutters softly.

Arakan keeps pace with them, his mother and father also following. " of course, we try to ensure our citizens check their collars regularly and get them fixed at the first sign of failure. regardless, this is highly irregular, whoever was in charge of scheduling this inspection should come speak with us if they have concerns about our people."

[MissyLooni]

The inspector snorts softly, "Trust me, you dont want to speak with the scheduler of these." As he passes by the crowd of people the device he's holding turns red and starts ringing loudly causing everyone to stop walking.
Curtis frowns and nervously glances at arakan and then back at the inspector.
The Inspector points into the crowd and Takana pales when the man in charge points in their general direction.
Curtis sighs and looks at two of his men and give them a nod
The two guards nod in return before going into the crowd and grabbing izanagi

Arakan grits his teeth, " apparently i do if this is going to be a thing now." He pales when the machine goes off. He'd checked everyone?!

Izanagi keeps his eyes down, until he's grabbed anyway. He yelps and looks at them with wide eyed panic.

Arakan grits his teeth and closes his eyes, " He's only an e rank, he's no threat."

The guards toss Izanagi into the street as one guard aims his gun at him

The inspector shakes his head, "Too bad, so sorry, these are the rules. we do everything by the book here."

Curtis huffs at the guards, "No need to toss them onto the ground, jesus..." He wasnt happy this was happening on his inspection shift. especially since he'd seen this demon around Takana before so he was sure to get an earful from the pink haired brat afterwards.

Izanagi cries out as he's tossed to the ground, tears filling his eyes as he looks up at the men about to kill him.

Arakan looks away, there was nothing he could do. If he fought for Izanagi's life he'd start a war. He clenches his fist and tries to look like he doesn't care. If they knew it bothered him it would only give them power over him.

Takana was in a brief state of shock during the whole thing. There's no way Izanagi's collar was bad! they just tested it!
He gasps softly when he realizes what it could be and he sprints out, holding his arms out and blocking the guard with the gun from shooting Izanagi, "WAIT! You're making a mistake!"

Several guards quickly raise their guns and aim them at Takana, waiting for an order to shoot.

Curtis flinches when Takana runs out and he snarls, "What the fuck are you doing?!" there was genuine anger in his tone because if Takana gets shot then all hell would break loose.

Takana shudders, his legs shaking a little, "W-we just got that collar checked yesterday and it came up FINE. How can it be that it came up on the radar!?"

The inspector's eyes narrow. never in his career as inspector has a demon tried such a thing and this pink thing has the audacity to question his precious machine? "And what business would you have scanning his collar the day before a surprise inspection?"

Takana huffs, not backing down and dipping in to his bullshitting talent, "We've been trying to save up for a newer version of his collar since the one he has is incredibly out dated and junky. We finally got the money but as you MUST know the rules are you need to have your old collar scanned first before you qualify for a new one. Unfortunately his came up fine and we weren't allowed to look at new ones."

The inspector raises an eyebrow and scoffs, "So a coincidence then. Either way rules are rul-"

Takana continues, "You didnt let me FINISH. This is the GoodBoy T03 model correct? I'm sure even you can tell what collar this is?" he points to izanagi

The man blinks and looks at Curtis and the other guards.

Curtis blinks and peers around and hums softly, "Y-yeah thats correct.... not too many of those were made so they are pretty unique."

The Inspector looks back at Takana, "Ah. I guess. What is your point?"

"The T03 model was notorious for malfunctioning. It had an old school method for alerting it's wearer of its battery life by its outer clasp popping open against the neck, causing enough of an annoyance that the wearer would actively seek out a new replacement. However the clasp had a defect and would get caught, causing the collar to no longer function yet would still light up as okay on the scanner."

The Inspector narrows his eyes again, "and you think I believe-"

Curtis clears his throat softly, "Um, Sir, Ta-The demon is correct. There is a reason why that collar isnt in production anymore. In fact, I have a scanner on my belt so if i scan him now and it pops up okay then its safe to say that the malfunction has happened."

The inspector scoffs, "IT DOESNT MATTER. SHOWING UP WITH A DEAD COLLAR WILL RESULT IN DEATH-"

Takana snarls, feeling a bit more brave, "IT DOES MATTER!! THE RULEBOOK HAS AN EXEMPTION JUST FOR MALFUNCTIONS AS LONG AS THE ERROR WAS CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY."

Nikiri's eyes widen and he looks at Arakan, hoping the ice demon will know what to do

Arakan almost stepping in when Takana ran in, but stops himself. He could not get involved. His jaw almost dropped when he started arguing, and was actually making them listen! He steps forward, looking calm and collected, " though this exemption has never come into play, i believe standard procedure was to pause the inspection, allowing the humans to leave safely. The issue will be remedied, and the humans will be brought back to continue inspection as normal." he stares at the inspector.

The Inspector glares at Arakan, "Oh? How very fortunate for you demons to know about this so called exemption and yet I have never heard of such a thing!"

Curtis quietly opens his rulebook and flips through the pages until he gets to the back and he clears his throat again, "Sir, with all due respect, its the first exemption in the back of the book. where the exemptions are listed."

The inspector whips his head around to glare at Curtis, "ARE YOU ON THEIR FUCKING SIDE!? YOU'RE NOT A DEMON SO DONT ACT LIKE ONE."

Curtis stands straight and stiff, frowning, "I am not on a side sir. I am following the rules of the rulebook. All of them. If we do not adhere to the rules with as strict standards that we enforce on the demons then the rules would mean nothing to them as well. You said it yourself sir. Rules are rules."

Takana relaxes slightly and sighs in relief, glad that Curtis is assisting.

The Inspector drops his machine, "This is preposterous!" he shoves the guard that is in front of Takana and yanks his gun from the mans grasp, aiming at Takana and shooting at him.

Curtis is quick and although the Inspector has the chance to fire off one bullet Curtis was able to shove the gun upward into the sky so the bullet thankfully not hitting anyone.
Curtis takes this opportunity to shove the Inspector onto the mans ass, quickly pressing his boot on the guy's chest to pin him down. He finds the safety on the gun and switches it on before handing it to one of his men before glaring at the Inspector, "Firing a weapon that not only doesnt belong to you but also at someone is a federal crime and I'm going to have to arrest you now." He keeps his boot in place as he looks at arakan, "My apologies. Normally you would have 10 minutes to have that collar replaced, however because I have to now process an arrest at the gate I wont be ready for another 10 minutes. If you could please meet me at the main gate in 20 minutes I will double check the new installed collar and report back to the station."

Takana's legs gave out after almost being shot at and he lets himself kneel on the road next to izanagi, shaking. He's never been that close to death before....

Arakan looks coldly at the man, " perhaps you should read the book that you claim to do everything by then." When the inspector grabs the gun the temps drop sharply as Arakan prepares to intervene, however Curtis gets there and Arakan stops, letting him handle it to avoid freezing Curtis as well. It was better for the human to handle it anyway if possible, an attack from himself would cause trouble. Arakan looks at Curtis and nods, " very well, we will meet at the main gate in 20 minutes then."

Izanagi is on the ground, pale and shaking, tears welling up in his eyes.

Arakan pulls out his phone and quickly calls the collar technician, giving them the information so the collar can be ready when he gets there. He hangs up and looks at Nikiri, " take care of Takana, i don;t have time to waste." He quickly goes over to Izanagi and shifts to his other form, grabbing the still terrified demon in his mouth before bolting to where the technician would get him a new collar, moving much faster than he could normally.

[MissyLooni]

Curtis handcuffs the inspector and sharply looks up at his men, "what are you all standing there for?! BACK TO THE GATE. NOW."

His men jump and quickly retreat back to the gate with Curtis following, dragging the inspector and muttering under his breath.

Nikiri sighs and relaxes. He can se the other demons start to shuffle. They all looked shocked over the events as well. He goes over to Takana and leans down to pick him up, "that was quite the stunt you pulled just now. Death wish much?"

Takana shudders, "i... I said I would keep izanagi safe today. And I am going to keep that promise. No matter what...."

Nikiri hums, "and you made quite a show in front of everyone. All these demons have never seen an E class raise his voice against a C rank demon and yet there you are. Terrorizing the humans and questioning how they treat us. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them start to remember your name and face." He carries takana to the gate to wait for arakan

!8 minutes later Arakan, still in his other form, skids to a stop outside of the gate, dropping Izanagi and shifting back. His neck was red and angry from the collar, but he doesn't seem to notice, " thank goodness we got extra time... i need to figure something out so that we can make that in the ten minutes normally allowed. im not sure how though, since the collar installation takes time." he runs his hand through his hair, " fucking humans."

Izanagi stumbles over to takana and hugs him, bawling.

Takana quickly opens his arms out to izanagi and hugs him tightly when the other hugs him.

Curtis was waiting patiently for arakan without any guards. He had sent them back to their posts and he had processed the inspector before having him escorted off of the premises.
He was holding a scanner so he could process izanagi, looking relieved when arakan had showed up,  "thank you for making it as well. Waiting any longer than the twenty minutes would have made my report flagged and this whole thing would have been repeated. "
He walks over to takana and izanagi, "this will take 5 seconds so pardon me, " he holds the scanner up to izanagi's neck and the light pops up green quickly, "perfect. That takes care of that. " He looks back at arakan, "takana is correct about the T03 collars having that defect. If you could check your people and make sure no one else has such a collar that would be great. If you have any then let me know how many and I will try to get them paid for by the company. After what happened is the least I could do."

Nikiri is next to takana, waiting for izanagi to hug him next
