Nikiri hums softly, "I dont see how its embarrassing but if you truly do not wish for a lift then i will not press it further."

Yori chuckles, " thanks. i guess i just want to be independent. i've always had everything done for me and i feel like a useless slug."

nikiri blinks and glances at yori, "Mm. apologies then. i wasnt trying to imply a lack of independence on your part by offering a piggy back ride. T'was a simple gesture of kindness on my part. admittedly I myself tried to act a part i should not play a role in and it put arakan in a rough spot. i believe thats where you and i first met with me stuck in my bed healing."

Yori waves his hands, " i know you're not trying to be mean or anything, i guess that's just me being insecure. i don;t wanna be seen as another kid for you to take care of. im sorry you got hurt..."

Nikiri shrugs, "don't feel too bad over my past injuries. They are a result of me keeping your brother alive. I'm proud but it does remind me to stay humble."

Yori blinks, " you got that protecting Takana? What happened?!"

nikiri hums softly, "a demon from the 7th district snuck in looking to hurt anyone they came across. Arakan swiftly took care of him though and we havent had much issues with roaming demons since." he didnt want to spook yori too badly so its best if he kept some things vague

Yori's eyes go wide and he scootches a little closer to Nikiri as they walk, not looking tired anymore as he looks around, " that's awful... im glad you were there, im not sure what i'd do if Takana had gotten hurt or... worse."

[MissyLooni]

Nikiri blinks when yori scootches closer, "ah no need to be afraid. we havent had much issues with demons in this district afterwards."

Yori nods slowly, " yeah... but did you have many issues before that? who knows when something will happen again?"

[MissyLooni]

nikiri shrugs, "It does happen once in a blue moon however these were under rare circumstances. I assure you Arakan keeps this place incredibly secure considering we're pressed up against a couple of less than ideal districts."

[Namari]

Yori sticks close to him, " great... im sure he does awesome, he's only one person though." and he'd only had one day of training so far and he definitely wasn;t ready to keep himself or anyone else safe yet.

Nikiri snorts softly, "technically yes. He is one. But he is a strong high ranking demon. If it weren't for him or his goddess of a mother I wouldn't be alive today."

Yori frowns, " but still he can't be everywhere at once or you wouldn't have been in danger to begin with."

[MissyLooni]

nikiri shrugs, "true. he was pretty far away at the time. He did get to me in less than 2 minutes. I could have also just not engaged with the battle and kept trying to flee. I also hadnt intended to fight either. it was just one of those moments where i knew i was fucked from the beginning so my only thought process was to keep the enemy entertained long enough for arakan to arrive before the other guy noticed where takana and izanagi had hid."
