Ren nods, " ah yes, used to special foods. well, you will be able to enjoy them again soon enough. won;t have to endure some basic meals for long." he chuckles, " good thing i am not in charge of food, you would starve off my usual diet."

Orion looks up at ren, one ear giving a light twitch, "your food cant be as bad as that weird freeze dried stuff."

Ren chuckles, " well i think it tastes better than that, but most species make faces when i dig into raw fish."

Orion tilts his head, "does caviar count? I like caviar."

He blinks, " i mean, i do find eggs inside sometimes, and that's a special treat. i suppose that kind of counts. but it's an extra bonus, not the meal."

Orion settles in his seat and hums, picking at his food, "i suppose. But to be fair you may be right about the raw fish. Not that sushi isnt a thing and not that i also wouldnt want to try it out of politeness but i think your body is just better at digesting raw fish and you wont get that sick from the bacteria inside. Other races may not have special enzymes and such to break that down safely."

He tilts his head, " fair, i have seen some eat little bits of raw fish on rice or other things, but i tend to put less preparation in. like, it comes out of the river and into my mouth." he chuckles, " regardless im sure we'd find ways to feed you properly if you ever somehow visited my home. i doubt you'd enjoy the visit long though, you'd have to stay at one of the hubs we built for offworlders. The predators around don't care if you're native or offworlder, you're still on the menu."

Orion chuckles, "yes fish on rice is sushi. And that fish is usually specially washed and prepared to ensure there is next to no bacteria. and i... if we had time or if i ever get the chance... i wouldnt mind visiting. I know you'd keep me safe so i wouldnt be scared."

Ren nods, " i would keep you as safe as i could. But my planet is very far, so the chances are slim. i doubt your...master would ever take you to such a dangerous and unprofitable planet." he shrugs, " do not fret though, you are not missing anything. much water, hot, sticky air."

Orion blinks before making a face, "humid? Ugh no thanks. The more humid it is the poofier my hair gets. Its embarrassing. "

The basilisk laughs softly, " when your planet is 98% water, the air tends to be saturated. Also that is one benefit of scales, no hair."

Orion sticks his tongue out before finishing his tray, "dont want. No thank you."

He chuckles softly, " there are definitely downsides to scales. they require much maintenance to keep them healthy. if they get unhealthy, it;s very uncomfortable."

Orion shrugs, "but they're like armor so thats cool."

He nods, " it's true even my regular is tougher than normal skin, i can make the scales bigger and thicker for more protection too. people are often surprised at how soft they are normally." he holds his arm out, " go ahead. feel it."
