He blinks and tilts his head, " a walk around town perhaps. ah, and maybe a meal at that cafe that supposed to be so good recently. im afraid there are not many entertaining things to do around here. i have heard from lower rank demons that there are large parks and places with a lot of water outside the district, that sounds like a pleasant place to go to. otherwise my brothers and i occasionally spar, though i doubt that would be something that would interest the lady, unless she enjoys it as a spectator sport. Some people say it's lovely to watch two Alicanto fight, since the colors and reflections of our feathers are so striking. Of course, that was the old days, im afraid my feathers are rather lackluster with the limited minerals and metals we are able to afford for consumption." he lifts a hand to his hair, touching one of the dull and tarnished looking feathers.

takana tsks softly, "Yeah she isnt much into fighting. just her husband raising his voice gets her to shrink. But she would be happy to be out walking. she likes to jog in the mornings and go on hikes. And if she can come here she will visit the cafe for sure since thats where i work."

He shrugs, " fighting is a way of life here, but i assure you i will see to it that even a voice is never raised in her direction so long as i am around to prevent it. I will see to it if i am selected as her escort i will take her to see that cafe then."

takana eyes him carefully before nodding, "alright. that'll do for now. thank you."

He bows at the waist to Takana before turning to Arakan's mother, " is that all im needed for my lady?"

She nods, " that will do. you may go." He bows to her before leaving.

Takana blinks and his ears stick up when indigo bows, not used to anyone bowing to him. A part of him wants to tell indigo that he doesn't have to bow to him but at the same time he also didn't want to say anything that might embarrass him in front of arakans mom

She waits until he's gone, " well now, it seems he really does like the idea. He's already treating you as higher rank to earn your favor. Alicantos tend to have a refined mannerism, they can be a bit conceited but that's tolerable. and honestly their bad history with humans is fairly limited, usually it could be a partnership. But even the bit of negative that there was is enough to have them in here with us, labeled as 'dangerous' just because they had a habit of leading some nasty sorts off cliffs. it was their own fault for trying to follow them to their feeding sites without any intention of sharing what they'd harvest, greedy miners. ah well, it is what it is."

Takana had no fucking clue what she was talking about in the last bit of her sentence so he elected t ignore it for now. "yeah well he didnt have to bow to me. i am nothing special. just a bratty college kid with too many questions and a weird obsession of creating."

She waggles her finger, " you're not looking at the larger picture. you're the key to potentially restoring his family's health and prosperity. We allocate them enough metals and minerals to keep them in a reasonable state of health, but it's an expensive dietary need. they could use far more than they get. this may be the key to returning them to being able to hunt down ore and gemstone veins. so of course he will do all he can to be in your good graces."

Takana sighs, "i just...this whole respect and ranking thing still weirds me out."

She laughs lightly, " ah, so that's it. well, our culture is different than what you're used to, but it works for us. it keeps the peace between the different ranks, especially in such close quarters. It used to be more lax, before the districts. Of course it was required to show deference and respect to those higher rank, but it wasn't often needed. our territories were like... circles within circles. a large territory was under the protection of an A ranking demon family. that large territory was split into 5-6 chunks, roughly the same size, for B ranks. and within those were C ranks. get it? usually the E ranks never even really met the A rank family of their territory, but they could rely on them to keep the territory protected and organized. it's a chain of command, designed to ensure everyone does what they're most skilled at doing, but it was also a community. we're packing in too tightly and have to adhere to human ways of life too much for such a method to work well, and being unable to do what our instincts tell us is how things are supposed to be tends to grate against many."

Takana sighs, "Yeah but I disrespect my older step brother all the time because he was an asshole and it never got me killed. I got an earful from his bitch of a mother but that was all."

" it was a far rarer occurrence for demons to kill each other over that sort of thing before. they simply didn't be in contact enough. And when you consider the sheer power we can wield, it's important to know you can trust those around you to obey."
